Here for your consideration is al spectacular hand crafted Malachite cabochon. This vibrant copper carbonate Congolese material is an old favorite in the lapidary community and coveted for it's unique orbicular banding of deep, rich greens and abstract black. This cab also exhibits some a glossy satin shimmer throughout. Malachite is a fairly dense material with high specific gravity (about 4.0) therefore is heavy for it's size. Malachite forms in the oxidation zones of copper rich ore bodies. It is becoming increasingly scarce in this quality.
