Here for your consideration is a spectacular Edward's Black Nephrite Jade cabochon from Wyoming. This unusual material exhibits a lovely deep black shiny appearance with speckled crystal-like inclusions. We very rarely come across this type of Jade from this location.
The only place in the world where nephrite jade occurs with quartz crystals is in the Granite Mountain area of Central Wyoming. The majority of this rare occurrence is found in light to dark olive green nephrite veins. The only known occurrence of crystals with black nephrite was at the now filled in Edwards Jade mine in the vicinity of Pathfinder Reservoir. This jade was collected by our friend and prospector Bob Scholl of Really Old Rocks in 2018.
Vitreous polish front and back. Standard radius dome. A must have for the quality Jade collecting connoisseur.
Photographed dry under full spectrum LEDs.
A wonderful focal piece for your next metalsmithing, wire wrap or woodworking project. A perfect heirloom as well. Use your imagination!
Hand cut and polished by Lexx.
