Here for your consideration is a stunning and EXTREMELY rare Sonoranite cabochon. Discovered by John Hornewer, Sonoranite is a unique mix of metals (Gold, Silver, Palladium, Copper, and other Rare Earth Minerals) in a silicified matrix of Epidote, Pumpellyite, and Calcite come together to create a truly unique, one of a kind, gemstone. It is among the newest gold ore gemstones and only 1,000 pounds of it were collected. We purchased the rough directly from John in 2020 in Tucson. GIA has inspected samples and has confirmed that Sonoranite is indeed a new find. Sonoranite has been given a Mohs rating of 7-8 which makes it as hardy as quartz and topaz and suitable for jewelry. It is very stable and fun to work!

It's brilliant, cool and definitely something to brag about in your heirloom collectibles. Wonderful glittery pure gold dust specks throughout!
Vitreous polish front and back. Standard radius dome.

All photos taken indoors under full spectrum LED.
This attractive cabochon will make a wonderful wire wrap or precious metal setting for a pendant. Use it in your next wood working or restoration project - Use your imagination!

This hand made cabochon is untreated and natural. Hand cut and polished by Lexx.
